Last week, David Koon of FDSAS led a foam demo at Burna Fire Department. All 5 fire departments in Livingston County (Burna, Salem, Smithland, Ledbetter, and Grand Lakes) were invited. Thank you Taylor County for attending the Muster & Parade to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Lexington Fire Department today!
The muster is in the parking lot of Regal Cinemas in Hamburg (1949 Star Shoot Parkway, Lexington KY, 40509) from 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. There are antique fire apparatus, brand new fire apparatus, and a few other public safety vehicles on display. There will also be a few friendly competitions amongst anyone that sends a team of three people to the muster. The event is be open to the public and food trucks are there for anyone that gets hungry.
The parade will take place later in the evening through the streets of downtown Lexington. The line-up will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Midland Avenue (100 Midland Avenue, Lexington KY 40508) and the parade will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Message from Zoneton Fire Department;
It is with profound sadness the Zoneton Fire District regrets to announce the death of Battalion Chief (Major) Garry Key. Major Key succumbed just before 2 PM on February 13 after a nearly month long fight with COVID-19.
Major Key’s passing comes just over two months after the death of Chief Rob Orkies, who also battled COVID-19. Major Key had been acting fire chief until he became ill.
Garry spent more than 50 years in service to others. His service includes 29-1/2 years with the U.S. Army (a tour in Vietnam 1970-1971). He joined the Zoneton Fire District in 1984, making him Zoneton’s longest serving volunteer member. Major Key also served 10 years with the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy and later a court security officer. He retired just last year from the Sheriff’s Office.
“Garry was highly respected by all who knew him and all of us are deeply saddened by his loss” said acting fire Chief Kevin Moulton. “This is a difficult time for the entire fire department” he said.
Major Key leaves behind his wife of 50 years, a son (who is a Zoneton firefighter), a daughter, six grandchildren along with a brother and sister.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
